Gerard's 70 Torino
Cobra Super Cobra Jet Drag Pack
1 of 29 SCJ cars with POWER WINDOWS!
1970 Ford Torino Cobra, Ram Air, Axle Code V (3.91 Limited Slip),
Trans Code 6 (Close ratio 4 speed)
Sport Mirrors, Ribbon Tach, Power Windows, Bucket Seats, Console.
"DANGER" written on the hood: Priceless!
This is a 70 Torino Cobra SCJ Drag Pack 4-speed car, yellow
exterior, black interior, bucket seats, console, power disc
brakes, power steering, AM/FM stereo (missing), tinted glass (most
missing), ribbon tach, and the rarest thing of all, POWER
WINDOWS. I had Marti run a special statistic report on
SCJ cars with power windows, and in 1970, only 29 Drag Pack cars
were equipped with power windows. This may be the only one left!
Have you ever seen one?
It's pretty rough...some of the guys with lots of experience with
these cars have seen worse, but it'll be a long term, expensive
project. The original shortblock with standard bore is with it, as
is ONE cylinder head, and the driveshaft. I do NOT have a
bellhousing, flywheel, transmission, or shifter. There is NO
intake manifold, fuel pump, water pump, or distributor. I have a
cracked passenger side exhaust manifold. The rev limiter is on the
fender apron. The engine bay wiring harness is missing. The grille
is missing, as are the taillights.
The body is pretty rough on the driver's side, and there are
several holes in the floorboards near the driver's feet, and in
the trunk. The left front fender is missing. It has some wrinkles
in the driver's side front apron. The driver's side quarter panel
has significant filler, as does the trunk lid. The driver's door
is cracked at the latch.
The rearend still has a locking differential...you can feel it
unlocking while pushing it around the yard on turns. I can only
assume the 3.91 gears are still in it, as the N case appears
undisturbed. The "double-drill" axle flanges indicating the
31-spline axles are still intact.

Update Feb 2010
Well, it's finally on some rolling stock, instead of 3
flats! These are Mercury Mountaineer / Ford Explorer
wheels, 15 x 7, with 235-75-15 used rubber. It will be
enough to roll the car around.

As you can see, the Mountaineer / Explorer wheels are very
thick at the hub, and the old wheel studs don't protrude enough
to be safe. I'm using these wheels for rolling purposes
only, but if you want to use some of these wheels to drive with,
you'll need to change the studs to longer ones.
