Monterey Bay, CA
My
sister Cindy and I went out to Marina Beach, to
relive some old times. Our family rode dune
buggies, dug clams, and fished from this beach from
the mid-50's until the mid-70's. It was fun to
see the beach again! Note again, the fog in
the distance. It's supposed to be warm in
California! Not here.

Here's a look inland of the places where we rode
dune buggies. Looks about the same as it did
way back when.

I found this little toy not far from where the pic
above was taken. He talks, in Darth Vader
voice: "The Force is strong with this one."
"Luke, I am your father!" And he
breathes heavy. His name is Charlie Crocker,
after one of the Big Four Central Pacific railroad
barons. He's now the Mounty mascot, and he
lives on the cable for the iPod. If I
disconnect the iPod cable from the car, Charlie
falls down, so it looks like the iPod cable is
staying in!

When Cindy and I finished at the beach, we went back
to the WalMart parking lot where we'd left her car,
and right next to the spot I had left earlier was
the Mounty's twin! Double vision!
